“ Confidence,” “Intuition,” “Discrimination” and “Predicting”
The analysis of my critical thinking abilities revealed that I depend on my critical thinking abilities in making the judgment of patient's problems and developing solutions to them. That has enabled me to nurture my abilities to practice with confidence, discriminate against options that do not work, predict outcomes with success, and exercise my intuitive abilities. The abilities have been developed through experience with clinical cases and the emergencies, which demand rapid and accurate response when dealing with information. I have to be able to determine whether a piece of information is "true, false; sometimes true, or partly true" ( Kabeel & Eisa, 2016, p.91). My levels of confidence, intuition, discrimination, and ability to predict outcomes are dispositions that help me to make a judgment on information and determine the correct action. They are the internal inclinations that I employ in my clinical practice to decision-making and problem solving ( Kabeel & Eisa, 2016 ). My other dispositions include open-mindedness, maturity, truth-seeking, inquisitiveness, and analyticity. Critical thinking is important in modern nursing practice as a determinant of quality care and professional accountability ( Mahmoud & Mohamed, 2017). I understand the value of my critical thinking skills in the nursing context, and I am focused on improving them to help attend to patients.
