In any organization, honesty is paramount for its proper functioning. Employees are required to be honest and respect the company's property. Based on this survey, many employees go unpunished as companies are unaware of who stole its property. Additionally, internal theft results in the failure of about 30% of the businesses (Purpura, 2013). Employee theft can occur in different forms, the major one being funds embezzlement. What makes this important is that the amount of losses that companies experience and business failures could be significantly reduced if these cases are reported in advance. The management of companies should prioritize hiring honest employees. Honesty in employees means that they can report cases of dishonesty to the management even if their friends are involved in the dishonesty. Additionally, organizations should conduct background checks on employees before giving them responsibilities to handle the companies’ properties.
