Due to the continuous effect of global warming on the environment, there is need to conserve water, as it is the driving force of life. Developing good incentives are necessary to conserve water and reduce carbon emissions to prevent severe climate change. Presently, many households are embracing the idea of washing dishes with machines. However, many are not conscious of energy use and the link, which exists between water, and energy. Therefore, this link requires serious attention and development of policies can help to conserve the environment and reduce water wastage. Saving water is significant for environment and the economy. Many households are doing dishes with a lot of water; however, it is possible to save about 20 gallons per washing of the dishes. By use of appropriate and efficient washing methods it is possible to avoid the wastage of water. I plan to make change in the environment by saving water while washing the dishes. This is by not letting the water to run as the dishes are washed.
Environmental Impact
The world continues to witness the effects of global climatic change. Some regions witness hotter temperatures, drier soils, and less precipitation, indicating that the demand for water is likely to increase in the future (Kennedy et al, 2016). Consequently, there is a risk of water shortage if these changes continue to take place unchecked. Adoption of the proposed dish washing method by not letting tap water can also save in energy use in households. The effect is both on economy and the environment. When a household turns on their taps, they consume both energy and water, and the use of washing machines multiplies the energy needed to wash dishes. Energy production highly depends on water and in most cities, electricity and natural gas are the main sources of energy. Therefore, the world will continue to witness drier and hotter climate; hence the need to conserve water and the environment for future generations.

Quantification of Proposed Method
Wastage of water has negative environmental impact and climate change; therefore, it is necessary to develop strategies that can help in saving water to avoid diverse effects in the environment. Societies can run out of water if the wastage is not checked. Consequently, saving water is paramount in each household to help conserve the little water that is available and supplied in homes, and to help check climate change. According to Glucklich (2018), an average of 103 litres of water is needed to wash loads of dishes by hand in most households. Additionally, an average of 2.5Wh of energy is consumed, while washing the dishes with hot water. Nonetheless, the method used in washing the dishes makes all the difference. There are those who wash their dishes through running water, others prefer to employ the use of washing machines, and others by not letting the tap run as proposed in my project of making a change in the environment. Therefore, the use of the different methods lead to some household to use about 30litres of water, while other can use up to 450 litres (Glucklich, 2018). Water use, technique, cleanliness, consumptions, and competency vary between different dish washers. Nevertheless, the most efficient handwashing dish method is to stop running water during dish washing exercise.
Cases of cities running without water have been reported and this affects energy production by hydro power, which is more versatile and cheaper. Consequently, wastage of the resources results to paying for high costs of production. Nevertheless, the proposed method of washing dishes by stopping running water is has a great potential of having an impact in the environment if adopted by many households. Conservation efforts by households can save significant amounts of the limited water resources and energy production. Glucklich (2018) opines that with the reduction of wastage of water through washing dishes, energy get to be saved and it is estimated that this can be by about 25 percent with 100,000-acre feet of water being saved (Scarpa, 2012).
It is projected that the average family water use is likely to increase by over 300percent in the coming years. This calls for conservation efforts that can save water and make water sustainable for coming years. Additionally, saving water will help to reduce the economic costs and the impact of climate change. In 2003, the United Stated raised an alarm regarding water sustainability, stating that half of the world’s population might lack water. Generally, this prediction was right since many nations did not have enough groundwater for their various activities. Conservation of water has enormous benefits to the environment, and it also helps households to save money. As such, the proposed technique of washing dishes is to stop running water while washing the dishes. This involves stoppage of rinsing and cleaning of dirty dishes under running water tap. Household can wash their dishes by use of sinks and putting the dishes in sinks with detergent and then rinsing afterwards in the sink without running the tap water.
