How you will apply Sociology in your Life

Overview of sociology

Currently, in our modern society, it is not a surprise to sports people blaming themselves for the dozens of issues which occur in their life. For instance, it has not been once or twice that we have heard newly married couples having a daily argument which at a time tore their relationship apart. Also, it is often most common that we hear single mothers blaming themselves for not providing enough for their kids and many others. This entire dilemma belongs to the world of sociological imagination. Understanding importance in personal life requires an understanding of what sociology is. Sociology, therefore, is the science of social interaction as well as a social organization which explains both social interaction and organization with primary focus hooked on how people construct culture, values, and attitudes and how this created values intern affects people’ interactions (Fitzgerald & Single, 2016). Sociology has various applications in personal life. It has shaped my thinking and perception of different issues in the world.

Application of sociology in my personal life

My first application of sociology will be on parenting issues where I will give major focus on the issue of gender equity among the children. The issue of gender and sexuality is widespread in the current society. I happen to be a victim of this vile, and within my capacity, I will not give it a chance to crop in my family or my life. It happened that I was the only female kid among my four brothers. I didn't like the kind of treatment I received. As my brothers were bought guns, airplanes toys, I was given dolls and Babies. I would like my children never to suffered same fate. Through sociology, I will enhance gender equity among them.

My second application of sociology in my life will be to conform to social and community values and ideologies. For instance, I will ensure that I go with a current issue in the community so that I contribute to the society in an appositive way. At a time in the society, we find ourselves performing task or actions which are not coherent with our characters. However, we engage in them to help us conform to the social beliefs and values to help us remain relevant in the society. Sociology will be my guidance at such moments in the community. 

Alternatively, sociology will be my base of argument in the law and justice system. In this case, different people get punished differently in manners which do not conform to the social values in the justice system. The punishment policies should be in a way that conforms to the social values. In this case, I will ensure that before I judge or punish an individual, I will have to assess the punishment verse the wrong action the victim has committed to decide a penalty which conforms to the society and morally upright.

Lastly, within my capacity as an employee in a social sector, I will apply sociology within my working environment. I will ensure that I recognize those people with powerful political as well as social influencing the organization. I will also I identify those individual with minimal power. I will then try to balance my services to ensure there is equity to all. I will make sure that I serve them with the kind of services their status deserve without discriminating or looking down upon any group.
