The article has insightful discussions on the mistreatment of imprisoned girls that are backed up by numerous references. The purpose of the article was to establish how institutionalized abuse results in trauma in the incarcerated girls. The study examined the 2010 census of children in custody in the USA and examined several other studies on detained girls to obtain data. The article found that the mistreatment that the girls undergo while in prison results in trauma. This is a peer-reviewed article that is published in the Journal of School Health. The authors of the article referred to several sources while writing that article, which makes it a credible source of information for scholarly writing. The article used school-based programs aimed at preventing adolescent pregnancy as an example to provide an overview of the process and rationale of incorporating into school-based programs trauma-informed approaches. The article reviewed the literature on the outcomes and prevalence of childhood trauma and the links between pregnancy and trauma to obtain information and data. The article found that some schools had incorporated trauma-informed approaches into the other school programs, such as adolescent pregnancy prevention programs.
