Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is a health condition where blood applies too much force (blood pressure higher than 130 over 80 millimeters of mercury) against the blood vessels walls. Hypotension is a silent illness that does not present obvious symptoms in the initial stages (MacGill, 2018). After vascular changes that come with clinical symptoms, the patient faces sequent problems that affect significant aspects of their lives. The condition damages organs of the patient needing to conditions such as heart failure, vascular disease, coronary disease, eye problems, and cerebrovascular disease. 

Background 

Hypertension affects the patient’s life, including the patient’s experiences, beliefs, attitude, social condition, and cultural conditions (Merai et al., 2016). This condition servers a major function in the process of treating of hypertension. The research aim is to explore different experiences and perspectives of patients living with hypertension condition.

General Problem Statement 

The general problem of this study is to obtain experiences of individuals living with hypertension based on physical problems, physiological problems, familial, spiritual, and social problems caused by the diseases in their lives (Shamsi, Nayeri & Esmaeili 2017). 

Specific Problem Statement 

The specific problem of the research is to identify the perspectives and experiences of adult Americans patients living with hypertension (Ursua et al., 2014). The research also identifies the level control among adult Americans that are living with the disease, including their awareness, and treatment (National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2016). The existing data report that 32% of adult Americans (about 75 million) have hypertension condition, with 54% of them having the condition under control. 

Purpose Statement 

The purpose of this research is to identify how American adults living with hypertension disease respond to treatment, control, and awareness level. The research also identifies the living experience and perspectives of the patients. 

Research Questions 

RQ1: What is the daily respond of hypertension among adult Americans? 

RQ1: How does socioeconomic status relate to patients living with hypertension? 

RQ1: What is the level of awareness among hypertension patients? 

RQ1: How do treatment and control relate to the patient social life?
