The primary purpose of this paper is to provide information about my state’s officials. My state is Illinois. Under the state’s constitution, the government of Illinois constitutes three branches. The three are; executive, legislative, and judicial. The executive branch composes six officers who are elected, including numerous other departments. The six are; J. B Pritzker, who is the governor, Juliana Stratton, the lieutenant governor, Kwame Raoul, the attorney general, Jesse White, the secretary of state, Susana Mendoza the comptroller and Mike Frerichs, the treasurer. The legislative branch, on the other hand, composes 118-member Illinois house of representatives as well as the 59-member Illinois Senate. An election is carried out at the beginning of every even-numbered year. The judicial has 24 judicial circuits in the state where each has one or even more of Illinois’ 102 counties.

My area’s representative I will discuss is Ladda Tammy Duckworth, who is a junior United States senator since 2017. She is a member of the democratic party who has done a lot for the state. Duckworth has been a beginner for so many things like being the first Thai-American woman and firstborn elected to congress, the first female double amputee in the senate and the first one to give birth as a senator. She responded to the accusation of president Trump that the democrats were putting “unlawful immigrants” ahead of the military. She has served as a US army helicopter pilot where she suffered wounds that were severe because it led to the loss of both her legs and some mobility in her right arm.

I will also elaborate on two senators of the Washington DC. The two are Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell. Senators serve six-year terms with staggered elections. Murray is a democrat and a senior senator from Washington. She started serving in Jan 5, 1993. She is next up for reelection in 2022. Apart from that, Murray is also an assistant senate minority leader who is a party leadership role. For 30 bills that were enacted, Murray was the primary sponsor. S.1199: Poison Center Network Enhancement Act of 2019 is one of those bills.

On the other hand, Cantwell is also a democrat and a junior senator from Washington. She started serving on Jan 3, 2001, and is next up for reelection in 2024. From 1993 to 1994, Maria was the representative for Washington’s 1st congressional district as a democrat. She was the primary sponsor of 15 bills that were enacted. An example is S. 216: Spokane Tribe of Indians of the Spokane Reservation Equitable Compensation Act.

The other official I will talk about is Illinois governor, who is the chief executive of the state. The position is directly elected, where votes are cast by popular suffrage of residents of the state. The governor’s responsibility is to enact laws passed by the Illinois general assembly. There is no gubernatorial-term limit in Illinois. Governor J. B Pritzker assumed office in Jan 14, 2019 and Bruce Rainer preceded him. Pritzker is the 43rd governor of Illinois. He is also a Democrat who holds more private wealth than any other governor in the history of the US. He is also the second-wealthiest US politician. This is after Michael Bloomberg.

Lastly, is Illinois’ legislators in the state capital. Springfield is the capital of Illinois, and it is the regular meeting place for the Illinois general assembly. Like mentioned earlier, the state of Illinois consists of two senators in the US states senate as well as 18 representatives in the US House of Representatives.
