The modern nursing profession is filled with complex emerging issues. They have continued to cause a major challenge in the overall performance of the nursing fraternity. Nurses are the cornerstone in our society healthcare management; they are the ones who receive, administer prescribed medication and overall care for the sick and the injured (Sullivan, 2018). Holistic nursing environment ensures that effective and prudent treatment are given the patients thereby improving nurses work morale, motivation and healthy reward systems in the long run. The impact of COVID-19 on professional nursing practice is detrimental to the overall society.

Importance of COVID-19 Topic in Nursing

COVID-19 has negatively impacted the overall well-being of nurses. Since the emergence of this pandemic, nurses have been in the forefront in receiving and caring of COVID-19 patients in isolation and hospital setups. The virus is highly transmittable through the contact of body fluid of an infected person. According to Sitolo (2020), at least 1,500 nurses have died due to the virus. COVID-19 study and management in our societies are is important. Prudent COVID-19 study of the virus mutations will enhance real-time manufacture and distribution of vaccines and personal protective equipment’s to our nurses and ultimately reduces and eradicate the COVID-19 in the near future.

The availability of effective protective wear given to our nursing fraternity is key to the eradication of this virus in the near future. Study on the variance mutations is an important topic of concern. Because it will enhance real-time paradigm shift in the way we handle COVID-19 patients. According to Sitolo (2020), COVID-19 variances have been made major countries to re-invent stiff restriction like lockdowns and night curfews. SARS-CoV-2 virus mutations are a concern on the world and an important topic to research on. Current vaccines being manufactured must be put on hold and establish it will efficacy against the new variant of COVID-19. The Non-replicating virus vector, developed by University of Oxford under the name of AstraZeneca is a major boost to counter the deadly virus in the long run.

Recent COVID-19 mutations are of concern (Sitolo, 2020) and require integrative and blended approach from key healthcare stakeholders to fight it holistically. Future coursework the field of nursing will incorporate course content about the COVID-19 vaccines, how it can be eliminated and prudent diagnostics strategies. B.1.351 and 501Y.V2 virus variants have been recently discovered in South Africa, enabling key researchers to study these variants within the shortest timeframe. Another sequence of the virus variant has been discovered in Burundi and Zambia and Nigeria.

Further COVID-19 variants emerging in other countries will be a major blow to the ongoing vaccines manufacturing. The mutated viruses have mutated protein spikes in their making it difficult for present COVID-19 minimization and elimination strategies amongst countries in the world. This variants will ultimately reduce the human immune system against such variants in a short span. This is mainly due to the fact that human antibodies will recognize one single in protein spike. According to Harrigan (2018), a new variant aggressively fights the human immune system in a shorts pan.

Suggestion to Address the Impact of COVID-19

The emergence of COVID-19 has received many clinical scholarly suggestions on how to contain and eradicate the pandemic. According to Sitolo (2020), key stakeholders in the medical fraternity must develop real-time turnaround solutions in the foreseeable eradication of the virus.

Manufacture of effective vaccines is the first suggestion the author suggested. Vaccines will solve the long-term implication of the virus to the whole humanity. The second suggestion is self-isolation strategies. In this strategy, the affected person must isolate for at least 10 days. After 10days, the person is tested and if the results are negative, he or she is allowed to join his or her family. The third suggestion is protecting our nurses by issuing them with quality protective care.

Good Solution to Address COVID-19 Impact

From my own perspective, vaccines and quality protective equipment’s given to our nursing professions are important to long-term eradication of COVID-19. Sufficient budgetary allocations must be set aside to fight the re-emergence of COVID-19 and other pandemics. According to Sullivan (2018), governments must set aside adequate funds to fight emergence of deadly pandemics like COVID-19 in real-time. The funds go a long way in ensuring that the pandemic is eradicated within the shortest time possible. The money will be channeled to paying the medical fraternity, building of isolation units, research and developments and building new hospitals to accommodate the COVID-19 patients.

Conclusion

COVID-19 has resulted to many deaths in the world. Turnaround strategies must be adopted in real-time so at to eradicate the virus and possible future re-emergence. All people must be in forefront to fight this deadly virus; people must always observe hygiene and other strategies developed to curb the spread of COVID-19. Also , incorporation of COVID-19 coursework into our colleges and universities syllabus is to future eradication of the virus. According to Harrigan (2018), study of viruses must be holistically being incorporated in universities and colleges. This will enable students have extensive knowledge to practically learn on the type of variants of COVID-19.
