Through Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), nurses have responded in launching modern initiatives that improve valuable contributions in the healthcare system. EBP has always been the standard of Nursing Practice when it is effectively adopted and sustained. Professionals in healthcare and nurses recognized that they must implement EBP by micro-system and system leaders, individual healthcare providers, and policymakers. According to Bick et al. (2010), in spite of numerous major advances, nurses must perform to accomplish the EBP program across the board. One example of a challenge in the implementation of EBP is the challenge of change. Transformation is essential in implementing and sustaining the practice across the system that is encouraged by organizational culture. Thus, a well-defined plan for implementation is necessary before the adoption of evidence-based practice.

Stevens (2013) also illustrates the evolution of EBP over the last decades in which the practice’s intention was hardwiring modern knowledge into ordinary care decisions that improved patient results and care processes. There was later a disturbing report involving shortages in healthcare that caused needless harm. Therefore, a proposal for redesigning healthcare was advanced in the report on Quality Chasm, which resulted in a modernized EBP. Hence, EBP impacts Nursing Education by encouraging health professionals’ education that prepares physicians, nurses, and pharmacists to provide the maximum quality and care that is safe. Besides, Bick et al. (2010) discuss the impact of EBP in Nursing Research has enabled federal grant initiatives to evolve by fostering research that produces the evidential foundation. Stevens (2013) discusses that in Nursing Practice, EBP has enhanced patient safety and performance advocated by highly-developed learning and training materials in the healthcare system. Finally, one of the greatest challenges in implementing EBP is insufficient knowledge of the correct use of the practice. Another barrier is misconceptions and negative attitudes.
