Physicians and other clinical stuff need to have the knowledge and skills required to perform their functions. The evaluation of such aspects is done through the process of credentialing, which ensures that they are best prepared for any tasks that they are required to accomplish. According to White and Griffith (2019), credentialing through peer reviews in the healthcare organization is done to ensure that physicians other clinical staff meet minimum levels of competency and proficiency. In essence credentialing is a process designed to ensure quality standards in the organization are maintained. Only competent staff members are allowed to perform while those that do not meet the required standards have the opportunity to improve. Therefore, it is not a process that locks out healthcare professionals from certain roles; rather, it is intended to ensure that people advance their skills and knowledge, and strive to attain high professional standards.

I would consider expanding peer review and board approval to other professionals such as nurses. I believe that subjecting nurses to such processes ensures that quality healthcare standards in healthcare organizations are maintained. The nursing profession requires individuals who adhere to quality healthcare standards, and meet their obligations. Peer review and board approval leads to the appointment of only competent nurses with the ability to accomplish the stipulated healthcare standards. Additionally, nurses will have the chance to improve their skills and knowledge, especially if they are not approved by the board. Just like in the case of physicians, nurses will have the opportunity to develop themselves and become better healthcare professionals. Evidently, peer review is important for all healthcare professionals because they work in a field that is sensitive and consequently requires meeting of high standards.
