Improving productivity at the nursing department needs strategy. The productivity of nurses is vital for improving patient outcomes. On that note, there are various strategies that the clinic can use to improve the productivity of nurses.
The first approach entails creating a taskforce that involves the member of each department to approach the other members. The management needs to develop a structure that describes different group leaders, the roles of these group leaders, and a system of accountability to ensure that the implementation team adheres to its schedule for deploying a new policy or program ( Erhardt, Martin-Rios, & Heckscher, 2016) . The second method involves requesting the organization’s top management to approach the workers. Leadership buy-in is important to create interest in an organization’s strategic plan. The third approach will be the building of effective teams. The execution of this action means that the clinic needs to adopt a generic action suited to its needs. The fourth approach is a building a culture based on core behaviors and intrinsic beliefs. A strong or weak organizational culture hinges in the messages that the leaders send ( Robbins & Judge, 2018) . It means that the clinic leaders have to be resolute on creating a strong culture.
The fifth action towards reducing resistance to change is developing a total rewards program to motivate the employees. The program is made up of certain aspects. First is compensation. The sixth action will be to encourage collaboration between the employees. It is important to foster the best practices for interdisciplinary collaboration to solve the organizational problem.
The six aforementioned actions can lift the productivity of the nursing department. Enabling productivity in the department entails looking at the psychological needs of the staff. The activities will be effective since they are centered on the mental wellbeing of the nurses.
