The relationship between the Native tribes of America and the American Government has always been sour. Over the years, the American Government has inflicted tribal relocation and suppression over the Native Americans, especially the Indian. Conflict over land and other resources has always caused a sour relationship between the two parties as the Federal Government took the property of the natives through treaties and by force. The American Government took stringent measures to break the Native cultures, such as taking the Young Natives to boarding schools ( Townsend, 2018) . The oppression of the Native Americans led to the deterioration of the relationship with the U.S government. In this essay, we evaluate the possible solutions to improve the relationship of Native tribes of America with the Government of the land.
To improve the relationship with the Native Tribes, the American Government should first acknowledge all the wrongdoings against the natives, both individuals and the tribes over the years. While it may seem like a lame beginning, the Government needs to recognize the native tribes’ presence and acknowledges that in the past, the Government has always undermined the natives, their culture and beliefs. The Government should then recognize that there is a need for reconciliation to improve the relationship.

The American Government should return the Indian lands to the Indians. U.S federal government owns and manages all the Indian properties. In 1831, Chief Justice John Marshall compared Indians tribes' relationship with the American Government to the relationship between a ward to his guardian. John Marshall sentiments were used to develop the federal trust doctrine that placed Indian affairs under the trustee of the American Government ( Townsend, 2018) . The trusteeship of the Indian issues remains under the Government even today. There is a notion that the native tribes cannot manage or own their land under the doctrine. Therefore, the tribes remain in poverty because they lack control over their resources. The Government considers returning the land ownership to the natives to give them control over their resources.
The Government needs to recognize Indian reservations and end the restrictions on these reservations. On the contrary, the U.S was given the reservation areas by the Indian Tribes. The U.S government was given the reservation land through treaties. The natives have retained the modern-day reservations for the Indians after the Government left these reservations. Initially, the tickets were created through settlements, the Government, however, would create some reservations through force. The reservations were later developed under the act of Congress or the President’s executive order ( Townsend, 2018) . To end the existing problem, the Government needs to end the existence of the reservations. People living in reservations need to be let to live free anywhere they feel like and to exploit all the resources available on the land so that they can have the economic capacity to live better lives.
Compensation for all the wrongdoing, especially for the failure to honor multiple treaties and policies. The Federal Government has over the years failed to hour the peace treaties with the Indians. The time duration between 1778 and 1871, the U.S government entered into more than 500 agreements with the native tribes ( Pruch, 1995) . Since then, the U.S government violated or outright broken all of these treaties. Considering that a settlement is a contract, breaking the agreements means one needs to be compensated. The U.S government needs to be held countable for the miserable lives of the native tribes because of the failure to honor the treaties. The justice system should step in and recommend the type of compensation that the Tribes should get for each crime committed by the Government or the agents of the Government over the years.
The U.S government should consider the sovereignty of the native tribes and give them the freedom required. The increased poor living standards of the Indian people can be attributed to the government oppression of the native tribes. The control over the personal and the tribes’ affairs has had a negative impact on these tribes ( Wilkins & Lomawaima, 2001) . It is time the Government gave these individuals and tribes the freedom to continue with their culture and to provide them with an opportunity to better their lives.
The Government should do away with the federal Indian policy as these policies have led to the oppression of the natives. These policies have led to high levels of poverty among the Natives and have led to an increased negative social indicators such as mortality rates, education and substance abuse among the native tribes compared to all other American communities ( Wilkins & Lomawaima, 2001) . The Government needs to ease or do away with policies that hinder the growth of the native tribes.
The Federal Government needs to do the above going forward to improve the relation with the Native Americans. The reason for such measures is to allow for the cultural continuity of Native Americans. In the past, the Government has tried to hinder the continuity of the Native culture by forcing children from native tribes to join boarding schools and the use of law such as the Dawes Act ( Wilkins & Lomawaima, 2001) .
The Government also need to observe the above measures to give the Native Americans an opportunity to grow and improve their lives. Today, the Indian tribes live in reservations where they live is hard. The socio-economic growth of the Indians remains highly restrained, which has made them miserable. By observing the above-recommended solutions, the Government will give the Native tribes the power to grow and increase.
