Individuals from diverse backgrounds, races characterize American society and ethnic groups because of the constant migration of people around the world, in and out of the country. Slavery also led to the forced immigration of Africans from their native lands into the United States. Over the years, the people of color experienced prejudice and disenfranchisement as they underwent assimilation. The whites were the dominant group in American society and therefore viewed other races as polluters of their culture. For ages, other races have been feeling left out in the society with all the prominent positions and leadership positions taken by the whites. A considerable number of whites perceive themselves as a powerful race, superior to all other ethnic groups. Personally, coming in contact with a considerable number of whites has made me question the cultural and social ideologies of the ethnic group.
My Experience in White Spaces
It has become a norm for black people to experience discrimination every day in American society. About every black American has come in contact with a disrespectful and racist white because of the skin color. Given that America is a dominant white society, the freedom for blacks to exercise their cultural and social ideologies is limited. My most uncomfortable experience with the whites was when white police officers pulled me over because I was driving slowly. Despite showing my driving license and vehicle registration, I was taken to the nearest police station for a few hours with demands that I provide more proof of the vehicle's ownership. Consequently, I believe that Whites cannot be subjected into what I went through with the police. Most whites have been raised to believe that blacks are slaves and, therefore, can never own anything, unless it is stolen. They, therefore, associate every black person with stealing until enough evidence is provided to prove otherwise. The occurrence up to date makes me uncomfortable around white people because of how I feel they perceive the blacks.

In my opinion, most white people display discrimination against blacks and other races in America because of the inferiority complex. They, therefore, feel that by denying them opportunities, they will limit their power, which can result in the rise, of other races, to dominance. On most occasions, black Americans generalize all whites as racists, which is not the case. There is a good number of whites who respect people from other races, may it be Asians or Blacks, and treat them without discrimination. For instance, a significant number of whites took part in the black lives matter campaign, going on the streets for demonstrations to ensure that Black Americans are accorded the same respect as everyone else.
Preconception about the Whites
Preconceptions are opinions or beliefs formed before facts are identified, which in most cases, is wrong. There are a lot of preconceptions about the white race in the United States of America. For instance, whites are perceived as the most racist people in American society. They are also perceived to be the wealthiest ethnic group, arrogant, ignorant, self-centered, and unknowledgeable about the other cultural groups. Although a significant number of the white population display the characteristics mentioned earlier, there is no concrete evidence that proves the above to be their nature. A section of the whites' population makes the whole world to generalize the existence of the group in a bad light, which should not be the case. I believe that there is a good percentage of whites who respect other people, regardless of skin color. A few people's mistakes should not be used to conclude the characteristics of an entire group.
