Industrial marketing management provides the empirical, theoretical and also the case -based research which aims at finding the needs of marketing practitioners and even scholars. The practitioners and scholars work towards the industrial and business to business markets. Although there are many articles that ensure the balanced theory and even the applications of these scholars and practitioners, these one is based on the trends of purchasing and supply management of the past to present and future. The paper aims at summarizing the findings found in the research of the journal by Spina et al. (2013) on the industrial marketing management on the trends of supply and purchase.
After research has been done, the findings were summarized using the tables and graphs to demonstrate the results. Since 2002, there has been an increase in the PMS papers from 68 to 79 in the journals considered with a growth of 163%. However, the growth result is considered relevant when the sample includes several general management and economics journals. In the type of research conducted by scholars, they included the theory testing, distinguishing among exploration, and theory building. The most frequently used type of paper is the exploratory papers, then theory building, and finally theory testing. While exploratory papers remain stable, theory testing and theory building have grown quickly with 453% and 450% respectively.

In the unite of analysis, the papers that focused on the buyers’ perspectives have the largest group with 421 papers followed by the supply network focused with 347, and finally the dyadic relationships with 233 ( Spina et al., 2013) . The papers focusing on the supply perspectives are only a minority with 54 papers. However, in 2010 papers focusing on the supply networks have overcome all the other perspectives with 53.6%in the overall out-put. There are only three most frequently used methods of research by the scholars the survey with 427 papers, conceptual studies with 318 papers, and the case studies with 249 papers. The three methods have proved to be the most consistently used for a long period since the other methods are marginally in competition — for example, the simulation, experiment, literature review, Delphi, and the collaborative methods. In the research methods survey and the case studies appeared to have the fast-growing trend than that of the conceptual papers.
However, on the part of theoretical background the research found that theories are borrowed from the other field of management and economics studies then they are developed to fit the PSM. Despite the borrowing, only 10% of the papers refer to these theories with the transaction cost economics theory being the most used followed by the resource-based view. However, since the year 2010, there has been a significant increase in the papers that are theoretically grounded with 11% total of them ( Spina et al., 2013) . Based on the research topics, the general overview was classified according to five groups where one paper can fall into more than one group than to the main content of the papers. The research topics were evaluated by the framework introduced.
In regards to the overall research production, there was the purchasing process or the activities which were what. There were also the practices, the relationship management, and the organization which is the how. Also, the competitive priorities and motivation which is the why and all these research productions were summarized in a table. Lastly, by the topics, practices consistently have 547, then the competitive priorities with 363, relation with 372, then process with 363, and the least is an organization with 134 papers. However, one-third of the overall papers address the issue of partnership.
