A major inequality in the US regards social justice with the advantaged group as the Whites, while the disadvantaged group are African Americans. In the context of justice, it regards negative prejudice against African Americans. In looking at prejudice, “we examine how inequality is maintained because of how individuals feel or think about members of another group” ( Mini-Lecture 7). In this regard, police brutality extensively manifest against African Americans and it has resulted in disproportionate incarceration of the African American. As a matter of fact, the law enforcement department and the Justice System have been adversely mentioned in social inequality discussions in America. There are many cases where the police department has dealt black minorities a big blow, and no one is held accountable for the use of excessive force against African American.

The social injustice has a strong link with microaggressions which refer to the spontaneous downgrading of a marginalized group in the society. In the American context, it refers to the degrading statements meted against African Americans, ultimately denying them equal treatment in social justice. These statements depict the African Americans as brutal and violent. “Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign” (Ngozi, 2014). Through this statement, Ngozi (2014) seeks to point out the maligning effects of microaggressions in the society. As per the discussion by Ngozi, a single story overlooks a huge part of the picture. In the field of justice, the single story on stigmatized races, especially African Americans depicts them as unable and undeserving. In turn, the face brutal treatment and higher rates of incarceration as compared to their white counterparts. However, Ngozi indicates that with due consideration of all factors at play and leveling the playing field, a whole new story manifests. Therefore, presenting the whole picture on racial minorities essentially reduces micro-aggression as all races receive equal consideration in eradicating the racial differences in social justice.
