Experience objectives

During the initial patient assessment in the emergency department, the first objective was to determine the cause of the present state of the patient. For instance, if it is poison, nurses in the emergency department will seek to determine the kind of poison threatening the life of the patient. At this stage, the effect of the condition on airways, breathing, circulation, and neurologic status should be observed (OperationRenewed Hope, 2014). Secondly, nurses in this particular department go ahead to determine other related conditions. For example, how allergies and medication conditions have contributed to the state. All these objectives were to ensure an organized and systematic approach to inpatient care in the emergency department during my experience.

Evaluation of the Experience

The whole experience was ideal since it enabled me to remove the patients from a life-threatening state and allow for further medication to take place. For instance, for the patient who had taken poison, the experience ensured that the patient is breathing well, and blood circulation is normal before I administered the medication to combat the poison. The whole experience was useful since it ensured patient safety by considering the issues related to their present conditions (OperationRenewed Hope, 2014). Thus, to me, the whole experience is highly insightful and effective in the delivery of high-quality care service.

Personal Feelings and Attitudes Concerning the Experience

In my opinion, the initial patient assessment experience is highly preferred since it guarantees a high-quality care service. I was optimistic that the medical condition of the patients could be managed effectively. Besides, I have a feeling of trust towards this experience exercise and have confidence that it would significantly help me save the lives of people that are admitted to the emergency department again in future.

Obstacles to Goal Achievement

First, there were insufficient medical equipment and resources to facilitate both primary and secondary assessment procedures. This hindered the appropriate examination of patients before therapeutic procedures are initiated. Secondly, a high number of patients in need of emergency care service were a hindrance. In this case, some crucial steps in the primary and secondary initial patients’ assessment had to be skipped to enable the emergency department to handle all patients in time. Therefore, these are some of the obstacles that limited my achievement of the key goals
