Evidence-based practice (EBP) refers to the patient-centred methodology based on independent scientific research, clinical knowledge, and the experience of patients. Over time, evidence-based practice (EBP) has become an integral part of healthcare, thus the need for its integration and implementation to enhance fair and improved patient outcome. Organizations should consider the appropriate implementation strategies to gain the most from Evidence-based practice (EBP).

Strategies

Evidence-based practice (EBP) can be integrated and implemented by creating awareness and interest. Essentially, being aware and developing interest in specific practices is the first step towards its adoption. Awareness can be promoted through highlighting the positive traits of the methods such as relative advantage and compatibility in a nursing career. Also, developing slogans and logos based on the strategies and placing them on strategic places that are easy to see like the resource manual can enhance awareness and the implementation of the practices among the practitioners ( Laura Cullen) . Senior management should be involved as they are engaged in evidence-based improvements with sufficient information about the purpose, availability of resources, and how they are likely to contribute to the success of the entity.

Another strategy is through knowledge building and commitment. A group of change agents may use academic detailing, identify practice gaps, locate the EBP to the setting and use train and trainer. An example of interactive learning through which nurses can attain knowledge is through engaging in training change agents ( Laura Cullen) . Another method of increasing clinical experience is through the comparison of organizational outcome to benchmark through the assessments of gaps. Adoption timeline should allow for focused effort building practitioners’ expertise and commitment before proceedings, providing an essential foundation for promoting the adoption of EBP through changes in practice.

Informing Care Delivery

One of the best way to inform nurses on effective care delivery is through training. Training ensures that they are well engaged and that the information is well involved. Among the information to be delivered include the formation of clinical questions that aim at identifying the problem, before obtaining the best evidence to consider in care delivery. Also, it is essential to analyze the evidence from the research before applying them to solving the clinical challenge and eventually assessing the result of the best practice that enhance patient care. Also, training is essential in demonstrating how to disseminate research and select the most applicable practices. Training allows demonstration and one on one transfer of knowledge from the trainer to nurses.

Opportunities

Growth and development opportunities are essential for employees to expand their skills, knowledge, and abilities in applying competence. Among the opportunities that can promote engaging in research and scholarship in a workplace include providing workers with tuition reimbursement and continuing education courses. Allowing employees to advance their education both in-house or outside the organization gives them the chance to learn new information and research on better practices that can enhance their practices ( Nielsen et al., 2017) . Other opportunities include giving employees challenging tasks that encourage them to research and come up with an effective way of delivering their services. Challenges at the workplace promote creativity and innovation through research of the appropriate strategies to use. Usually, lack of time and resources for research are the key barriers to Evidence-Based practices. Therefore, providing employees with the necessary time, resources, and skills can encourage them to take part in the research and develop appropriate care practices.

Lessons learned

From my experience with the use of EBP, I have learned the importance of incorporating research-based evidence and patient employees in enhancing their well-being. The practices enhance effectiveness and customer trust in the ability of practitioners to improve their well-being. With the EBP, there is a guarantee for quality care provision, and practitioners have access to specific needed information to enhance their skills and competence. With EBP, it is easy to understand the right strategy to hand a specific patient need hence a decline in implementation delay. Another essential lesson is that employees need to be equipped with the necessary skills for them to perform their duties adequately. Through training, I have been able to provide better and improved care that has seen my patient and organization at tremendous satisfied.
