Part I

The knowledge I have gained from my study program has prepared me exceptionally for a smooth transition from college to the professional world by equipping me with various necessary skills. It has also assisted me in my volunteer experience since I used the acquired skills to complete different crucial tasks. Since I volunteered in a property management company, I used the knowledge gained to track rent payments of each tenant, compared rent from tenants with bank records, and booked for rental properties repairs. I used the information learnt in accounting 101 to apply effective accounting tools, such as excel, for effective tracking. I also used information from Intermediate Accounting 1 and Intermediate Accounting II to make correct debit and credit entries and balance them.

The knowledge gained will also assist me in future in various ways. It will help me fit in any organization because I now understand how different accounting and finance departments function. It will also help me organize financial records properly and inspect accounting systems regularly since I understand the significance of keeping these records. This knowledge will enable me to maintain the good financial health of businesses and organizations by ensuring good financial planning.

Part II

The comprehensive accounting and finance programs and the sports department have made my experience at Grand Canyon better. The academic programs are easily accessible with numerous student resources. The people and events that made the most positive influence on me in my Grand Canyon experience were the accounting and finance instructors and the sports events. Instructors are understanding, caring, straightforward, approachable and promoting excellence. They also encourage collaboration among students, promoting lifetime friendships. They make me look forward to learning since they instill in one’s mind the desire to study everything. The sports department also made my experience at the institution enjoyable because it promotes teamwork.

This experience has a positive impact on my future because the university has changed my perspective about so many things and prepared me for the future. Moreover, it has given me numerous opportunities and taught me the significance of staying connected with others. It has also assisted me towards my dream career and exposed me to various opportunities.

Grand Canyon has prepared me for professional life in various ways. It has taught me networking skills and the significance of connecting with others, which is a crucial skill in the accounting and finance world. It has also prepared me for real-life circumstances by teaching me exceptional critical-thinking skills in various complex accounting and finance courses. Such courses have also made me learn that hard work is crucial for high-quality outcomes.

Part III

My volunteer experience has prepared me adequately for the future. It has connected me to others and the community and given me opportunities to help others, making a big difference in people’s lives. Moreover, it has helped me hone my accounting skills by giving me an opportunity to apply what I learnt in class. My volunteer experience has also helped me develop communication skills. Solving problems requires communicating with others, implying that these skills will help me create solutions easily in my personal and professional life.

This experience made me encounter situations unusual in a classroom setting. For instance, I noticed that an organization’s accounting records might differ from the bank’s records. This occurrence taught me the importance of organizations preparing a schedule that explains this difference. Although my instructors had exposed me to debit and credit rules, the volunteer experience made me understand these rules better. I believe that the volunteer experience was valuable and prepared me for a successful career in accounting and finance.
