A person at one point in his or her life is forced to lead a section of people; a company, friends, a team, or even themselves. This makes everyone a leader in their own right. It is true the circles might vary in size, relationship, wealth, and location among other factors, but the character required to lead appropriately is still the same. Leadership is not about oneself, it is a lot bigger. As much as the position can lead to high paychecks and more notoriety, leadership is something greater than just money and recognition.

According to Anderson (2015), a contributor at Forbes, there are various characteristics that every true leader must employ to lead effectively. Some of these characteristics include integrity, knowing what to stand for, working right alongside other people, being forthright, listening to others without condescending, able to delegate duties, unafraid to make demands of their team, using time wisely, keeping things in perspective, and remaining accountable. However, in more broad and perspective manner it is important to consider that leadership is about the people being led – it is not only about authority and recognition but also reprimanding people from a point of love and desire for the individuals to improve both in their careers and lives.

Being a true leader would require an individual to be able to develop others in such a way that they reach their full potential. A true leader should be able to equip his or her team with the right tools and strategies to succeed both in their careers as well as their lives. A leader should understand that he or she has the responsibility of leading the team through the process of breaking barriers into uncertainties of the future. This allows the team to love and follow the leader. As such leadership is also about making the team love, cherish, and follow the leader by understanding his or her passion. Therefore, throughout the process of leadership, there is no better trait a leader should possess like passion towards team activities.
