One of the interprofessional strategies for health promotion is the communication strategy. Members of different professionals come together in a collaborative effort to raise awareness about the healthy behaviors for the general public. According to the World Health Organization, health promotion “ enables people to increase control over their health. It covers a wide range of social and environmental interventions that are designed to benefit and protect individual people’s health and quality of life by addressing and preventing the root causes of ill health, not just focusing on treatment and cure” (Fertman & Allensworth, 2016). This process requires public awareness through communication in the form of mass media campaigns, health affairs, and public service announcements.

Another strategy is the collaboration amongst interprofessional teams to provide public education that aims at empowering the behavioral change and actions through increased knowledge. To enhance health promotion, different professional teams must come together to offer public education in a way that helps them live healthily and avoid risky behaviors. The educational strategy entails offering educational courses about healthy living, providing training and support groups ((Fertman & Allensworth, 2016). It helps people increase their knowledge and skills as well as awareness about the importance of healthy living. The educational strategy has been used by various professionals who collaborate to work together and enhance public knowledge about good health.

Improving the systems and environment is also a strategy that has been used for health promotion programs in the community. The various professionals can come together and work in collaboration to create an enabling environment and the systems that can help enhance and present healthy life choices for the people. Through collaboration and teamwork, the various professionals can help modify certain policies that will assist in creating a good environment for people to make healthy life choices. Good health governance ensures that there is enhanced health and disease prevention with the overall goal of ensuring that people have good health.

The interprofessional team can create an action plan by first identifying the major health problem within the specified population and then come up with a goal to solve the problem. For example, if the problem is limited health literacy, then the action plan is to increase health literacy for the target population. This is then followed by the action that will take place to meet the goal. The action can include hanging posters, displays, and other forms of communication to inform the target population about the need for a healthy living. The team must then identify the people to carry out the task, and this can involve the team members as well as the members of the community to help in carrying out the task of improving the health literacy amongst the population (Salsberg et al., 2015). The team also need to include the timing and how long the action plan will take place. The right timing is important in promoting the success of the goal of the team.

Also, an action plan needs to identify the required resources for the program to work. Because the problem is the limited health literacy in the target population, effective training and support groups can be used to increase the knowledge of the target population and help them make healthy life choices. Public education can be organized in a variety of ways, including community meetings, training, courses, and many other methods that best enhance the health literacy of the population.
