Ethical theory

The ethical theory advocates for the right action in the society. Abortion is an immoral action because it involves taking away an individuals' life (Piper, 2014). During the process of aborting, life is terminated because life starts when one conceives. It is wrong to kill somebody especially the innocent soul. According to the utilitarian theory, the action of an individual should benefit the greatest number of people. The utilitarian advocates for the right actions in the society and therefore getting involved in abortion one will help others ( Thames, 2018). When a lady decides to abort, the action will not bring any happiness to the society but rather those involved will feel guilty of their action. In other words, this means that abortion goes against the tenets of the ethical theory because it involves killing. The killing of a person is wrong according to the ethical theory. One has a right to life.

Killing

Abortion is an immoral action because in some cases a woman who usually aborts dies when it is not safely done (Thames, 2018). Abortion is a case of either life or death. This means that one can either die or survive. There have been several cases where expectant ladies have been killed due to unsafe abortion. Some dying during the abortion period while others die after aborting. Loss of life is against the human right and that is not the way we are supposed to live; deliberate killing is not a good thing (Thames, 2018). In such a situation two individuals that are the mother and the child lose life due to abortion. Also, some women who get involved in abortion end up being barren. Some women lose their fertility when they abort, and when they get married, they cannot bear children for their family and continuity.

Religion

According to most of the religion like Christianity to be precise the Catholic, they term abortion to be immoral because it involves the killing of the baby. Christian Catholics believe that life starts immediately after conceiving. Anybody who gets involved in abortion is seen to be a sinner because one is killed. The Christians strictly observe one of the Ten Commandments that warns people against killing (Do not kill). Aborting involves murder and therefore one will have broken one of the Ten Commandments given by God. Christians believe that life can only be provided by God and can only be taken away by God.

Conclusion

In a nutshell, abortion should be strongly be discouraged by all individuals in the society. It should be a duty of each in the society to deter and warn others against abortion because it involves killing which is wrong in the society. All societies should uphold morality over prudence by discouraging abortion. Religious leaders, political leaders, and any other leader should take the initiative of enlightening others on the importance of respecting an individual's life by avoiding anything associated with abortion. Abortion is a crime, and one should face the consequences. Life is precious and should be treated with a lot of respect.
