Taking part in the curse on the current trends in professional nursing has opened my eyes to the scope of the sweeping changes for nurses in the profession. Nurses have to deal with a myriad of issues emanating from the handling of hugely dynamic clients in the modern world ( Huston, 2013) . For example, it is a common practice these days that the health care professionals undertake proper care during the administration of medicines and prescriptions. Moreover, there are growing concerns about the lack of physical exercises and mental stimulations for the elderly in rural areas. While there are new trends and issues are bound to develop in the healthcare industry every day, the onus is on the professionals to protect ensure they have the proper training to facilitate their service delivery.

Issues in Nursing

Social, legal and ethical issues affecting the nursing profession cut through the demographic divide. Nurses are now required to fill the medical history of their clients in due time and upload the same in a hospital system for easy retrieval and reference. The ethical issues which may arise from this new way of doing things are patient information may be shared with third parties without their consent. Nurses have to ensure that the information which has been entrusted to them by the patient is only used for the purposes of extending treatment and not for advertisement ( Huston, 2013) . Since nurses are the primary caregivers in the health profession, they have the ethical and moral responsibility for protecting sensitive client information.

Cultural diversity issues have also been on the rise in the medical field. Immigration has fostered the mixing of people of diverse beliefs and backgrounds together. Consequently, the modern nurse has to shoulder the demands of a completely new culture when delivering medical care. There has been a significant shift in the demographics involved especially within the clientele nurses are required to avail of their services ( Cherry & Jacob, 2016) . The change in demographics requires that nurses equip themselves with the appropriate knowledge such as language and medical records to enable them to serve peoples of diverse cultures according to their needs. Additionally, more and more people are getting old in the United States. As the percentage of the population in the U.S above sixty-five years increases, greater medical attention is going to be demanded from the nurses ( Cherry & Jacob, 2016) . It is therefore imperative that the nurses are well equipped with the relevant resources to enable them adequately perform their roles and functions ( Cherry & Jacob, 2016) . Nurse have to learn about the best ways to communicate with their elders, how to successfully educate them on preventative methods and advise on the ways to encourage healthy living.

Trends in Nursing

Other trends nurses in the modern practice have to be comfortable with is the continued growth in technology. Modern technology is constantly changing, a factor which demands that the nurses remain abreast of the changes. To remain at the top of the delivering medical care services, nurses have to quickly grasp the new technological concepts ( Cherry & Jacob, 2016) . The modern nurse has to be willing to learn to ensure they communicate intelligently with the medical technologists. Rural areas rely on telemedicine to provide the required medical help to the residents there ( Cherry & Jacob, 2016) . Nurses have to be on the forefront in adapting to this type of technology if they get to be competent in their work ( Cherry & Jacob, 2016) . Adequate knowledge of the technology they have been presented with will allow them to select the best package to allow offer the best help to the patients.
