Even though most people in America embrace the digital world in conducting and engaging in daily forums such as receiving local news, most of them still prefer a sense of community connection. The digital era has managed to integrate with the local news (McCollough, Crowell & Napoli, 2017). According to the latest analysis conducted by the Pew Research Center, a large percentage of the population prefers to receive local news through the online platforms. This number, however, is almost equal to those who prefer acquiring the same local news via television sets.
Even though the percentage populations of those individuals who rely on online platform to acquire news is creeping in to hold the same share as those that prefer getting it directly from the TV, the local news distribution channel has mainly been dominated by the local television stations (Powers & Vera Zambrano, 2016). From the conducted surveys, almost 38% of the American people chose to obtain news from the local television sets. Second in position hold a portion of 20%, and from this group, one can realize that these individuals opt to receive their news from the local radio stations. Another group follows this with a slightly different percentage of 17% who venture into the newspapers to obtain the information they want.

One serious complaint that has emerged from this storyline is the issue that some Americans claim that the news they receive does not come as expected from their community area. Instead, most of them tend to focus on neighbouring settings. It has been a concern trying to question why numerous existing news updates do not cover their area code but instead focuses on other different environments, for instance, the nearby cities.
In an attempt to discover why this population of Americans outlaid the existing complains, several interviews were conducted through the use of face to face talks with some residents. The surveys conducted in Washington revealed that majority of the journalist were performing their work to the best-expected outcomes as they were able to produce all the information required. However, some few portions of these populations did not find the same confidence from their counterparts; as a result, they criticized how the same journalist failed to ensure that a community connection was established.
From the data obtained, the public has high expectations that, apart from news providers fulfilling their jobs effectively, they should also try to manoeuvre their ways by engaging with the history of the respective communities (Lewis SC, Holton AE & Coddington, 2016). This means that journalist should have a personal engagement with those people from the local area. On the other hand, the most arising question is whether the issue of community connection has relevance in determining the approval of an individuals career in journalism.
