Key Figures in the Renaissance

Creativity and innovations are among the main reasons why human beings have triumphed through history. Our understanding of the environment that we live in determines how effectively we interact with each other. In reality, new ideas today can mostly be discovered or invented since the world has not undergone significant changes. Some individuals have already ventured into the new world of invention. After interviewing Leonardo da Vinci and Boccaccio Boccaccino, who are both born in the Renaissance era, the following are their views regarding some of the issues that affect our community. The individuals are good at many different ideas.

How does art and other forms of literature contribute to modern inventions?

Leonardo and Boccaccio are among the greatest painters of all time. Leonardo says that paintings, art, and writings are forms of cultural icons. They provide substantial evidence for discoveries in areas such as anatomy, engineering, and hydrodynamics. Leonardo thinks that Florence is a center of humanist thoughts and cultures that must be upheld in permanent writings and drawings. Boccaccio also contributes to European literature through writing and painting. He believes that someday, the technology behind writing and painting will be improved. However, today's achievements form the foundations for future contributors. Boccaccio notes that keeping journals full of sketches and small drawings reflects people's ideas based on observation of live events.

What is your view about power distribution in Florence and the impact on the "Renaissance man"?

Leonardo believes that Florence city is the birthplace of the Renaissance. However, he notes that the political power of the city is unevenly distributed. The wealthy merchants control the region by dominating in major industries. It is, therefore, challenging for a renaissance man to accomplish his wide range of interests. When evaluating his life, his interest in human anatomy and science was recognized after many years of struggle. Boccaccio holds a similar view on the issue of political power. He says that Florence is made up of investors, thinkers, writers, and scientist whose views are yet to be rated as valuable. The reason is that the spirit of competition is only concentrated among a specific group of individuals. Leaders are maintaining the appearance of a democratic government, but their actions are controversial.

The present glory of Florence is mainly due to its geography and past. What is your view?

Leonardo notes that living in the 15th century is exciting. Florence is surrounded by influential cities and admirable landforms that makes it an exciting place to be. Leonardo argues that the strong economy and political philosophies that thrive in our community were influenced by early artists, writers, and philosophers. When tracing back to the 13th and 14th centuries, the city was full of personalities who had a great interest in art, religion, and power. Boccaccio also believes that Florence has enormous influence in Italy, Europe and other regions across the world. He notes that some of his art represents the harmony of the landscape.
