Identify the key images in the poem, which you believe are vital to understanding it.

Imagery is one of the styles that have been well utilized in the poem where it is used to pass different messages and create a mental picture of the situation being addressed. One of the examples where images are used is the part where the persona says that he loves thee to the depth and breadth and height. The other strong example used is where he says that most quiet need, by sun and candle-light. These are the most vital examples in the poem that have been seen to bring out a clear picture for passing the message ( Kennedy, & Gioia, 2013).

Provide a detailed discussion of how those images function in the poem.

One of the most common functions of the usage of imagery in a poem is for the reader to form a mental picture in the mind of the current situation being discussed. For this particular poem which is about a person who is truly in love with the partner, the images are used to express how much or to what extent the persona loves his partner (Kennedy & Gioia, 2013).

Do the images work together to form a coherent pattern?

The images have been put in a way that brings about the taste as well as the message that is being brought about by the persona. The images have also been developed in a coherent pattern that not only brings about the message but also the mood and the tone of the poem. They express that the persona is deeply in love with the ‘thee’ to unimaginable manner (Kennedy & Gioia, 2013).

What ideas or feelings are conveyed by the images?

For this case, the images have brought about the feeling of love for thee which the persona expresses in a deep way. The images have been used to show to what extent the persona loves thee. The images played a significant role in expressing what type of love the persona is experiencing, which is deep love (Kennedy & Gioia, 2013).

How do the images contribute to the overall meaning of the poem?

First of all, the overall meaning of the poem is very clear and straight to the point; it asks the simple question of how much the persona loves thee. The images have on the other hand played a huge role in answering this question through describing in the form of an image how much she loves thee (Kennedy & Gioia, 2013).
