Leadership is a very important aspect of the proper management of an organization. Effective management of people in organizations is a skill that requires constant planning and development. Leadership involves an influencing process between employers and employees, which facilitates an increase in efficiency and effectiveness for achieving the organizational goals. As a leader, one has to acquire some leadership principles for quality production. During my internship in a private hospital, I managed to observe some leadership principles from the hospital administrator, which include:
Leading by Example
In most organizations, employees follow leaders they trust. Being a good role model for employees is a critical aspect since employees follow examples set by their leaders (Qiu et al., 2018). Leaders have to set the right examples to avoid misleading members. The hospital administrator was a very reliable person despite being the head. Wherever he was around, he would assist in some of the tasks like helping patients who have not been attended to and looking at the admitted patients' status. This helped reduce the workload and boost the working staff's morale other than a leader who just sits down watching the members do their work.

High Self-Esteem
Individuals in most organizations are likely to do their tasks perfectly if they feel important. As a leader, one has to help to develop self-esteem to the workers (Yaya et al., 2016). The hospital administrator used to pay attention to the staff and always showed an interest in their opinions. It helped create a close relationship between the staff and the hospital administrator. Anyone could approach him confidently and freely, making it easy for the administrator to know the workplace's challenges and attend to them at the right time. The little gestures expressing his appreciation to the staff’s efforts were rewarded since the staff's performance improved, resulting in quality services to the patients, which increased their satisfaction.
Keeping Workers Informed
The hospital administrator used to inform the staff about what they are doing right or wrong. By positively showing the staff the right way, they easily changed to doing things in the right way enabling better performance of the employees. Correcting the staff when performing their tasks reduced errors, such as medication errors and hospital-acquired infections. Communication is a key aspect in this case, and not only should the workers be informed, but also seniors for the benefit of the organization. This should be done in a way that will make the individual not feel bad but to appreciate the advice given, bringing a positive impact to the organization.
Knowing Employees and Looking for their Well-Being
As a leader, one should know most of their staff and have some details about their backgrounds. This knowledge helps one to easily understand the needs of each employee and act to them appropriately. In addition to knowing the staff members, leaders should always ensure that their well-being is prioritized. As an intern in the hospital, I understood the importance of being caring to employees. The hospital administrator was not reluctant to give part times off to staff members in emergencies like health or family issues. This was the best way to show that he cared for the employees. Moreover, it helped stressed employees to cope with fatigue due to dealing with many patients. This helped reduces cases of shoddy work and mediation errors, thereby improving patient satisfaction.
Making Sound and Timely Decisions
Decision making plays a big role in leadership. Leaders are always involved in ensuring that everything is in place, and the organization runs smoothly (Surji, 2015) . Leaders receive different feedbacks from their members, and it is their duty to solve any arising problems. In doing so, they are expected to be good in decision making. The hospital administrator involved employees in decision making by allowing them to give their views concerning arising issues. He also made sound and timely decisions that ensured that the hospital operations ran smoothly. Sound and timely decisions improved the quality of services and improved the workplace environment by reducing employee-employee and employer-employee conflicts.
Conclusively, leadership is essential for the thriving of an organization. Leaders should be driven by principles that propel the organization in achieving its goals and objectives. Some of the key leadership principles include leading as an example, keeping the employees informed, and making timely and sound decisions. Leaders should observe key leadership principles to guide their organizations to success.
