For the presentation in unit 7, two adult learning theories, including interactive methods and hands-on-training, will be applied. Interactive methods will involve quizzes, discussions in small groups, and demonstrations (Simplify Training, n.d.). Quizzes and discussions will be essential to provide more information on the topics of discussion. Demonstrations will include relevant tools and equipment meant to visualize the discussions. I chose interactive methods since the training aims at keeping the trainees engaged to ensure that they are more receptive to new ideas. Besides, interactive methods will provide in-session feedback to evaluate trainees' understanding. The training session will also involve hands-on-trainings. The hands-on-trainings will include cross-training and coaching. Cross-training will offer the experience to the trainees beyond their fields of specialty (Simplify Training, n.d.). Coaching will aim at improving the trainees’ performance by optimizing their potential. Through coaching, I will answer questions, correct errors, and provide guidance and practical strategies to goals. I chose hands-on-training as it gives the trainees more exposure to job expectations. Also, training ensures a better understanding and experience that can be applied directly to the field.
After the training, I will measure the effectiveness of the sessions using the Kirkpatrick evaluation model. The Kirkpatrick model will evaluate the trainees' reactions, learning, behavior, and results (Verma, 2020). On reaction, I will evaluate if the trainees considered the training as relevant and easy to understand. On learning, I will assess the degree of skills and knowledge that the trainees have acquired through test scores after the sessions. Besides, I will use self-assessment questionnaires to assess the trainees' attitudes and behavior. On results, I will target the changes in productivity and quality of work. Kirkpatrick evaluation is the best choice as it gives more objective feedback and also helps to identify the gaps between the intended and the actual results, thus providing information that can improve future training.
