Theme 1: The Land and its First Settlers. This section describes the different kinds of people that inhabited the region of India during the earlier days. Their wheat and barley farming and barter trading ways are explained. Aspects of their culture such as animal husbandry and in scribing on stone is also covered. The first settlers include the Harappan, Mohenjo-Daro and Tamils. (Weiner, 2015 

Theme 2:The Aryans during the Vedic Age . This section explains how the Aryans who were settlers of European origin changed India. They successfully took Iverson Northern India during to their military prowess. They blended their knowledge with practices from the dwellers present. This led them to accept the caste system of society. They lived alongside the Brahmin priests who led their worship sessions. (Dubey, 2018)

Theme 3:India's Great Religion. The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Rig Veda are part of the original religions of India. The religions borrow heavily from the military practices. The section describes the deities as powerful and well endowed heroes of war. Their prowess is described in terms of physical might and tact during combat. They give birth first to Hinduism then to Buddhism which is considered India's Great Religion. (Sarila, 2017). 

Theme 4:Western Contact and the Mauryan Unification of North India. Wesrernisation brought out the potential in India. This section tells how the Indians adopted the use of currency instead of barter trade. The borders of India were also formed at this point. (Harrison, 2015) 

Theme 5:Small States and Trading Networks. This section describes the role of kings and other leaders in the newly established region. The ethics of trade and boundaries allowed are outlined and the code of conduct is informally adopted. 

This assignment traces history in a way that makes the reader understand why society is the way it is. It is applicable in that the reader can relate with the players in history by seeing what drove them. 

The assignment is applicable personally because it shows the value that one can place on religion and on the various forms of culture. It implies that a person's beliefs are shaped by society. 

The most interesting part of the assignment is the summary of the themes. Full marks should be awarded despite the answers provided because every person is captured by different facts.
