Situation
Alcohol and drug abuse are among the prevailing problems in society (Garnick et. al, 2019). Different bills have been put forward to control or else curb alcohol and drug abuse only to result in a small change. In addition, alcohol and drug abuse have reduced the workforce in the industries since a huge percent of workers are unable to take responsibilities in the work environment due to that state of alcohol and drug addiction (Peters, 2018). Increased cases of college and university dropouts have resulted from alcohol and drug abuse. In addition, this problem has attracted behavioral disorders such as sexual harassment and increased crime.
Concerning the problem, the following bills can induce some impact on fighting alcohol and drug abuse. The bill requires the cost of alcohol and drugs such as cigarettes to be increased in order to induce a cost restriction hence reducing the rate of alcohol and drug consumption in the society.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Background
Reports from different organizations assert that the high rate of employee turnover has been facilitated by alcohol and drug abuse (Lenton, 2019) . In addition, the forensic department reports that various crimes performed by individuals, 80 percent of the victims are under the influence of alcohol and drug abuse (Welsh et. al, 2019) . Moreover, cases of road accidents have 34% of the cause of being alcohol and substance abuse.
A similar bill had been proposed that required tax on alcohol and drugs such as cigarettes to be increased.
Assessment
Increasing the cost of alcohol and drugs in order to establish a cost barrier that would reduce alcohol and drug abuse would have the following advantages. It will increase revenue to the government and profit to the distributors (Altschul et. al, 2018) .
Among the stakeholders that will support this bill include distributors, forensic officers, parents, nurses, students and human resource managers (Langmann, 2018) .
The group that would oppose this bill include the middle-class alcoholics and substance users (Bertscher et. al, 2018) .
Recommendation
I would wish to have an appointment with the legislator in order to explain in detail the impact of alcohol and drug abuse on every life sector including health, security, labor, education and the social relationship as well. I will present signatures from supportive force from the members of the society as well.
