There have been numerous changes in healthcare over the last fifty years, in which patient care has dramatically improved. One of the factors that has contributed significantly to the improvements in healthcare is technology. In the last half a century alone, the world has witnessed great advances in technology which have considerably transformed almost every sector of human livelihood. In healthcare, new instruments, machines and tools are now used. Through technology, many procedures such as CT scans and X-rays can now be performed, those that could never be performed fifty years ago ( Scalese, Obeso & Issenberg, 2008) . Other important discoveries and practices such as the use of anesthesia in medicine have also been seen in healthcare in the recent years. A lot of medical research has been conducted over the last few years giving rise to discoveries in disease diagnosis processes. Public relations have also played a huge role in healthcare by promoting healthcare products and services ( Waters et al. 2009) . Through public relations, healthcare services have been made known to the public and made more accessible. Important healthcare discoveries, services, preventive procedure and public health warnings have been made known to the people through the efforts of public relations.

The business components of healthcare have also changed over the last fifty years. As a result of the advancement of technology and globalization, aspects of healthcare such as marketing have been greatly improved. Today, patients from far away location can easily get services and even healthcare products in the most convenient ways possible ( Petrakaki, Klecun & Cornford, 2016) . Healthcare marketing has greatly improved and healthcare organizations have developed efficient methods of marketing their services and products. Advertisements can be made using the media and through the internet. Even with the increased technology in healthcare and the improved patient care, healthcare still needs to readjust and implement certain objects for the next few years. Due to the increased number of skilled healthcare personnel, healthcare needs to come up new strategies in order to provide a more room. The increasing demands of patients may also need to be looked at ( Shih et al . 2008) .
