The money made it through the month with about $1,000 to spare on the first run with a lot of bad decisions made. The hardest choices to make were those where healthcare and medication had to be foregone to try and save the budget, to enable the finances to clear a month. Sacrificing good pay to be home with the family was also very challenging because the infant was required to be cared for. Getting bus passes instead of cars was also a little difficult, but it ensured a lot of money was saved for the month. Foregoing family medical needs, but helping father was also a hard choice to make because it might make the family feel like their health I not prioritized. Not getting the face painting for the pre-schooler was also a very difficult decision to make because it is hard saying no to children.

It may not be logical to survive in the real world with some of the choices made on the exercise. Going for bus passes, for example, instead of a vehicle would prove to be a nightmare, not only for going to work, but to survive in moving about with the children. Not taking care of medical bills and emergencies with the best form of care possible would also not be realistic, as that puts the family at risk. Perhaps the one thing that would be easy to go without, is the luxuries, and non-essential services and goods. These can be anything from expensive store toys, and other leisure activities like going for restaurant dates. Anything that does not involve healthcare from medicine, to hospital bills, or eating healthy, or paying bills can be foregone to ensure money makes it through the month, and there are some savings.
