Arguably, a successful healthcare facility needs to have a strong manager and leader in enabling him or her to organize the team in the facility to follow them in achieving their success vision ( Cox, 2016) . It is not possible to be a manager and a leader at the same time because of their several differences between a leader and a manager. The paper seeks to justify the statement that it is not possible to be a great manager and leader at the same time.
Management and Leadership are two distinct terminologies with different meanings, and as such, a manager cannot be a leader at the same time. It is because leaders have individuals to accompany them while managers have individuals who are entitled to work for them. Leadership involves making individuals understand and trust in one’s vision and work with you to attain your objectives while management is focused on administration and ensuring that activities are done in the right manner ( Diamond & Spillane, 2016) . For example, a manager will develop policies and plans to be adopted by health care providers to improve service delivery, but leaders mobilize community partnerships to identify and address health snags. Another difference between a leader and a manager is that a leader will influence something to be done while a manager will literally organize what should be done ( Liphadzi et al., 2017) . For instance, a leader in the health care facility will inform, educate, and empower individuals about health issues, but a manager will organize for the health issues to be solved by health care providers.

In conclusion, heath care institutions should have the positions of a manager and a leader because both do not perform the same roles since they are quite different officers. A leader will do the right thing, but the manager will do things right.
