Financial Managers should be Concerned with Quality Initiatives

Within a healthcare system, financial managers are bound morally and legally to observe high quality patient care services, and always aim at improving care. They hold prime positions that mandate procedures, systems, policy, and organizational climate (Gupta & Rokade, 2016). In that sense, they have an obvious and important role in ensuring quality care and patient safety is given priority. The financial managers strive for quality because they are aware numerous variables play a role in ensuring the organization realizes profit. The variables include medical analysis, medical errors, minimizing waste, prevention, diagnostics, staff training, education programs, and financial reimbursements (Parand, Dopson, Renz et al. 2014). Whenever any of the listed variables is compromised, they can lead to detrimental impacts to the patients and huge financial losses. Quality initiatives monitor the way resources are used, and determine whether any intervention is needed in the way allocation is done.

Two Areas in Healthcare where Quality Plays Critical Role

One significant area in the healthcare where quality plays a critical role is in collecting and receiving information on patient feedback. Feedback from clients is vital in healthcare, as it determines whether things are moving in the right direction. It enables the managers to identify areas that need improvement (Nowicki, 2015).

Secondly, quality plays a huge role in staff training, aimed at informing healthcare workers on measures of improving quality. Most organizations do not give much thought on staff education. Healthcare facilities ought to budget for education of the workers. By so doing, they become competent in their duties (Parand, Dopson, Renz et al. 2014). Such employees are productive and confident in their work. They offer quality services to the patients, and as such, there are minimal cases of compensation and complains. By offering training, patient satisfaction is guaranteed. Patients benefit from efficiency, positive attitude, and skills gained through the training offered.
