Marianne’s inference on the matter came from her own experience of marriage shadowed behind the brilliance of her husband Max Weber. Later on, as first world countries raced for colonization of developing countries, women still played a shadowy role. Post World War era, women in America were represented by a mere third and only took on minor roles in the workforce. Through the 18 th , 19 th through to the 20 th century, America still experiences patriarchal dominance (Duncan et al., 2018).

Social oppression towards women is a culminate of the intimate relations between man and woman and is the cause for women’s domination. Oppression begins when women are viewed as property. The notion is later coined in institutionalized legal codes and political process, religion and the economy. According to the law, man and wife are one entity, this is how a woman loses her rights as a single woman and her right bore by the husband. A classic proof of how the law has carried on the tradition of male domination. In religion or culture, women's place is in the home; a fact that is still being witnessed in modern society. A political process like voting or running for office were a trends unlocked in the 20 th century. But otherwise, the contemporary period was widely influenced by religion and culture which pitted the woman behind or under a man. An aspect that has surfaced into the modern world through analogies like “behind every successful man there is a woman.”
