The source explores the level of discrimination that people diagnosed with mental health condition face in the justice system. According to Lovett et al. (2019), people with mental health problem are incarcerated more than their healthy counterparts. The trend is even more in Africa, where mental health knowledge by individual working in the justice system is somewhat constricted. As a means to address the issue of mental health discrimination in the penal system, the study is recommending the usage of mental health court, which will be able to pass rulings based on an individual’s mental health state.
