A meta-paradigm is outlined to be the set and ideas that are meant to provide directions and a structure of how a field should work or operate. In the field of nursing, these models comprise of four basic theories, which are known to be the meta-paradigm of nursing. The meta-paradigms include the patient or person, health and the patient’s welfare, nursing and environment (Nikfarid et al., 2018). The person or rather the patient is the receiver of care or maintenance of wellbeing. Health is the level of wellness the patient is supposed to have, the environment is the surrounding of the patient and nursing is the knowledge and art of care delivery.
A person receiving care is the most and the central concept in the nursing discipline. The patient, however, has several connections that are put into considerations. They include the family, relatives, close individuals or groups that are important to the patient. Humans’ health and behavior are mostly affected by psychological, biological, spiritual, social-cultural and intellectual scopes as well as the stages of human development (Nikfarid et al., 2018). All these aspects should be put into consideration when care delivery is done.

The health concept of nursing is the degree to which a patient has access to health care and wellness. This covers the life span of the individual. Physical, Spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional well-being of the person are incorporated into healthcare for maximum health outcome and welfares. Environmental facet of nursing meta-paradigm emphases on the surrounding that affects a person, and it can be either the internal or external environment. It can be on a personal, social, national, and global level and include dimensions such as physical, psychosocial, cultural, and historical. Other social factors include economic conditions, technology advancement, and geographic locations (Nikfarid et al, 2018). It is believed that these environmental factors can be modified to improve a person’s health.
Nursing is the art of care delivery that is carried out in a safe and caring environment using skills and knowledge, technology, and professional judgment in personal care. Professionals that is, nurses, utilize clinical findings and critical thinking to achieve an optimum and standard level of wellness. The process of clinical and critical thinks involves concern, pledge and compassion to the client human health experience. The nursing aspect integrates psychomotor, interpersonal, intellectual and communication skills in providing health care to an individual, family, and communities and involves a mutual relationship between the client and health care providers. The nursing concept must be integrated with the other meta-paradigm concepts of nursing for maximum patients’ wellbeing.
