Every rock has a story to tell is  quite an interesting video. The narrator explains that regardless of the type of rock, it often depicts some form of evidence or a narration about the earth. Essentially, metamorphic rocks are some illustrations of rocks that were formed through a metamorphosis process (Andrei, 2020). However, it is imperative to note that there are several examples of metamorphic rocks, and the mica-schist is one common type. This is a medium grade rock that is mainly composed of mica, quartz, clay mineral, and mica grains (“Every Rock has a Story to Tell”, 2011). Although it formed even before the dinosaurs lived on earth, the rock has been undergoing a series of changes over the years. Originally, it started to form when rivers continued to flood into the ocean. Over time, these rivers were bringing in more sediment at the bottom of the sea. Consequently, the more the sediments accumulated, the more a thick layer was formed, hence, resulting in a rock formation.

Inherently, the mica-schist rock articulates an interesting story about the earth’s past. For instance, it shows that when this rock was forming over 400 million years ago, the Iapetus Ocean was decreasing in size (“Every Rock has a Story to Tell”, 2011). In particular, this decrease occurred because the North American proto plate and the African proto plate were converging. As the African proto moved downwards towards the North American one, a trench from deep in the ocean was left, therefore, allowing the sediments that had accumulated at the bottom of the ocean to grow. This is an indication that different conditions can lead to the formation of metamorphic rocks. As posited by Andrei (2020), a perfect example of such conditions is the collision of continents that cause horizontal pressures.
