My opinion on chapter 19

The chapter gives us a glance of what is required in the fieldwork. Being a hands-on engineer and having proper qualities to be a good designer. However being fearless and unselfish is a tuff balance to maintain. The chapter is informative.

Question 2: Additional learning benefits from a hands-on experience

I believe that a hands-on experience is what determines an engineer. It helps an engineer to gain experience and also to learn the dynamics of engineering.

Question 3: Ground rules for design.

Apart from using a notebook and teaming up effectively, keeping the design simple can also be a good ground rule.

Question 4

Among the eight steps of the design process, the customer fits best in the first process during the definition of the problem. This is where the engineer seeks for more information regarding the project.

Chapter 20

This chapter gives us a more in-depth analysis of effective team building. The most significant point is that all teams are groups, but not all groups are teams. This brings out an important aspect of working as a team. Interpersonal skills are necessary if a group of engineers desires to work as a team.

In this chapter, we are taught how to build and manage a team while being a useful member of the group to meet the required targets and standards. The effectiveness of a person in a group is dependent upon his/her communication skills and being able to accommodate others.

My opinion on chapter 20

The section educates us on an essential aspect of engineering, that of teamwork. It is very crucial for people to co-operate in this field. People can achieve greater results when they work together than being alone. It even more important for a team leader to be able to manage the group effectively.

Question 5

The critical path for this PERT chart is the one that requires more time to complete. This is critical path D-F as it takes six days to complete the task.

Question 7

Having not made a sandwich before, I would not expect a perfectly made sandwich, but, it would be close to a likable sandwich.

Question 13

Being ethical is necessary for any field of work. A leader has the greatest responsibility for maintaining the ethical standards required. As a team leader this case, I would be honest with the work progress and report the work as it is. However, being a part of the team, I would be wise enough to speak on behalf of my colleague.
