Most African-Americans have been portrayed, in many cases, as criminals and thugs in America by the Whites. There are documented historical and modern accounts that show how stereotypes, propaganda, and myths lead to discriminatory in court rulings and policies that invigorate racial violence against the African-Americans. This article examines and discusses an example of modern anti-black propaganda and how it dehumanizes African-American. The anti-black propagandas culminate in the continuous rise in the African-American's incarceration. An example of modern anti-black propaganda that dehumanizes the African-Americans is that they are naturally brutal.
The connotation of African-Americans as being brutal is prejudice and misconception that has been created and spread through several channels, including the mainstream and social media. For instance, President Obama, on April 28, 2015, called a group of Africa-Americans from Baltimore, as "thugs" following an inquiry regarding the rebellion in response to the death of Mr Gray in police custody (Smiley & Fakunle, 2016). Many other influential people have used to term thug to refer to African-American males. According to World Star Hip Hop (2015), this modern anti-black imagery has continued to use the negative gradation of the African-Americans using the term “thug.” As a result, law enforcement agencies in America continue to use unfairly extreme force on African-Americans who are purportedly considered persons of interest or suspects. The mistreatment of the African-Americans frequently results from the linking of their physical appearances, criminal records, or superficial characteristics; to unlawful killings and exploitation (Kyle, 2014).

The anti-black propagandas lead to the discrimination and dehumanization of African-Americans even in modern times. Although there is a relationship between Black masculinity and inconsistent criminality, research needs to be undertaken to establish how unarmed African-American males sufferers at the hands of law enforcers, have been dehumanized.
