Health care administration places a healthcare professional in a position that he or she has a direct influence on the wellbeing of patients. It is an area that requires the highest level of ethical conduct to ensure that people’s lives are protected by all means. Here a professional is in charge of all aspects of health care, and he or she makes critical decisions that affect the entire health care organization. Such an element of healthcare should be governed by moral integrity. Moral integrity represents the continued adherence to ethical and moral practices that are guided by one’s values. It calls for the highest level of honesty and consistency in matters ethics, morality and values.
As a critical aspect of health care administration, one needs to work on advancing his or her moral integrity continually. As a prospective healthcare administrator, it is necessary that I identify these activities that will help build and maintain my moral integrity. These activities include keeping a journal which will help determine my areas of weaknesses and what I can do to improve these areas. Another activity would consist of identifying reflection sources from work which would mainly include feedback from colleagues. Feedback is critical in helping one identify what he or she is doing wrong or right. It means that such opportunities for reflection would help advance my moral integrity. The continued acquisition of knowledge through reading books and research would help highlight information that can help build my moral integrity. With knowledge, I would be well informed of what moral integrity entails and the practices that help strengthen it. I would then have a foundation for behavior and thought that could eventually result in building and maintaining my moral integrity. A combination of these activities and many others would represent a sure way to develop and maintain my integrity.
