Personally, I find the topic "Impacts of slavery on the modern progress of African Americans" ingesting since it touches on one of my favorite topics in history which involves understanding the origin and the progress made by African Americans. I also have a personal inclination towards understanding African-American history with a specific interest in learning about the circumstances that surrounded the movement of African-Americans from slavery to freedom. From a professional perspective, I believe that this topic has a crucial role to play in trying to address and find answers to the several questions and concerns that have previously been raised by researchers and authors in the field of history. One of such concerns involves the need to investigate and find out whether the constitution of the United States explicitly or contains express provisions that support fight s against slavery in modern society. 

In this regard, the topic is of a major interest considering that it presents an opportunity for the exploration of various views, interpretations, perspectives, and arguments from researchers, scholars, and legal practitioners concerning the issue of modern-day slavery and ways in which African-Americans may be involved. Besides, the topic provides an opportunity from the professional advancement of research concerning history as a subject 1 . In this respect, the topic would assist in raising questions such as the relationship that exists between slavery and racism as well as the effect of slavery on the present socioeconomic conditions of African Americans. The understanding of this topic forms a crucial part of the requirements that student of History Major is expected to have.

Things that are Missing from my Current Resource that may be needed during Further Research of the Topic 

What is missing from my current resources is the extensive or broader documentation regarding some of the previous analysis and evaluations on the position or the intention of the American Constitution about matters surrounding slavery and racism. The other thing that is missing is documented personal narrations by African-Americans victims of slavery and racism despite the achievements that have been realized and the progress made so far in fighting these vices. 

How the Topic will help while Advancing into the rest of my Degree Program 

In helping me as I advance into the rest of my degree program this topic will play a crucial role in enhancing my understanding concerning the kind of transformation that has been experienced by African-American right from the years of slavery in the United States to the recent times when racism appears to be common in some parts. The topic is vital for me in undertaking my degree program in the sense that it focuses on an in-depth exploration of the aspect of slavery and racism whose effects are still evident in the modern world. Recent studies have indicated that the United States sill grapples with some form of slavery today. The topic will also provide an opportunity to fully examine the adverse effects and the overall impact associated with the modern-day slavery in the United States. 

This topic is relevant in understanding the history of the United States since it is largely linked to political and developmental issues affecting foreigners in the society 2 . Researching on the topic of slavery and its effects on the modern world will allow for a clear explanation of the way African Americans interact with others in societies that are occupied with white people. Further, this topic will assist in the introduction of thoughts and different dimensions of evaluating and analyzing the aspect of racism. This topic will also help in enhancing my research and analytic skills and capabilities in the sense that I will be provided with an opportunity to examine and evaluate various issues and views related to slavery and the progress made by African Americans in the modern America society.
