Multigenerational administrative workforce refers to the four generations of the employees that are part of the administration. These are the preboomers (born between 1925-1945), baby boomers (born between 1946-1964), Generation X (born 1965-1976) and Generation Y who are also known as Millennials born between (born 1977-1994). Such a workforce has all the different generations incorporated into it. Multigenerational management revolves around finding a way for these generations to co-exist peacefully. All the generations must respect the unique talents of others. Having an administration with mixed generations provides the others with a place to source inspiration and expertise.
Both have the issue of age. Both have employees spanning through the different organization types. This can be an issue when it comes to integrating these generations as one and helping them to work as a single unit. Company culture is also another issue. Younger generations may have the notion that an office should have a more modern theme. This however might not accommodate what the company culture is all about. It should ensure that the whole workforce is accommodated in the company. Communication style may also be another issue common to both multigenerational clinical and administrative workforce. Generation Y may prefer using text messages for communication as compared to generation X who would prefer phone calls and emails. Younger generations also tend to use abbreviations and informal language.

It can be said that each generation has a different psychology of work, however it becomes more complicated when one considers the issues on interactions between work colleagues and their seniors. Intergenerational workforces can experience problems to misunderstandings when for example a younger member of a clinical workforce feels intimidated by a younger senior who is a member of the older workforce. Diversity in age should be encouraged. Interaction needs to be an issue for concern since for the whole workforce to move forward as a whole there needs to be open communication without the feeling of intimidation.
