My nursing knowledge has been improving as I continue learning. I look forward to incorporating the skills and knowledge gained in nursing practice in my future role as a professional nurse. I have gained a variety of skills that will be paramount in the performance of my role and in applying best practices in practical settings. My critical thinking skills have improved and enabled me to conduct an objective analysis of issues before forming a judgment. These skills will be essential in enabling me to assess a variety of ideas and use the best ones to inform decision-making and problem solving, which will lead to better decisions and solutions to any issue encountered during the nursing practice. The critical thinking skills will enable me in my future role as a nurse leader, especially after developing in my professional career. They will help determine the best alternatives in terms of decisions and solutions to issues that might face my team and I as we work on matters presented to us in the course of performing the nursing practice (Masters, 2005). The skills will also be critical in enabling conflict resolution, mainly because they will help form the best opinion to inform the determination of the best ways to achieve better relationships between people in the workplace.
Additionally, I have gained better problem solving and decision-making skills. I have learnt that it is vital to evaluate the existing alternatives before selecting a given solution to a problem or a specific decision. The knowledge has been supported by the skills that I have gained in brainstorming. The ability to make viable decisions and solve problems will be critical as a nurse leader in the future. I will use these skills to lead others to resolve the issues experienced in practical nursing settings. It is essential to have decision-making and problem-solving skills to perform well in the personal nursing practice (Courtney & McCutcheon, 2010). These skills will also be crucial in solving problems facing organizations, especially in terms of the provision of better care to patients.
