The purpose of this paper is to outline my philosophy as a student who is undergoing training in nursing. In this particular philosophy, I will examine the meaning of nursing, values and beliefs concerning the nursing profession. The philosophy acts as a guide during my studies and practice as a nurse. The four concepts of nursing namely the person, environment, health, and nursing are captured in the work.
My nursing philosophy involves taking care of all my patients. I fully understand that, a nurse serves many roles to the patient such as being a leader and an advocate. I will try to follow and be empathetic to my patients at all times handling both their emotional and physical needs. It is critical to ensure that I gain more knowledge by advancing my studies and also attending conferences and training sessions.

In my profession as a nurse, I will ensure that I adhere to the four concepts of nursing namely the person, community, health, and nursing ( Branch et al., 2016 ). The field dictates that lot of attention is provided to the patient and his or her family and friends. I fully understand that each of the patients that seek medical care at the health facility has unique needs should be met by the nurse and this will be helpful in the provision of patient-centered care. In my career, I will use the nursing process in coming up with specific care for each of the patients assigned to me. The first thing I will do the moment a patient is presented to be is to collect as much information as I can about the patient. Then carry out a nursing diagnosis that will help me in understanding the response of the patient to the health condition that he/she is suffering as a result. The diagnosis is also of fundamental importance as it will help me in knowing other conditions that are as a result of the current health condition of the patient such as anxiety. I will also be able to develop goals that will be helpful in the recovery of the patients. For instance, ensuring that I check the patient three times in a day. Further, ensure that the patient feeds on smaller regular diets. Then I will ensure that I evaluate my patients, which will help me in making adjustments where possible.
A nurse is expected to provide a conducive environment to the patient that will assist in the healing process. I will ensure that I do this by forming a good rapport with my patients so that they can be able to share their report to me any challenge that they face during the nursing care. I will ensure that I obtain the necessary skills, training, and experience that I require as a nurse. I will achieve this by attending training and also learning from my seniors and also my patient. A nurse is purposed to ensure that he is compassionate to the needs of the patient.
I also have strengths and weakness as a human being. I will use my strengths such as caring, sociable, disciplines and friendly in ensuring that I provide the best nursing care to my patients as well as being a team player in relation to other caregivers. In addition, I will try to use my weaknesses such as being keen to detail to ensure that I follow the nursing process with the interest of the patient at heart. I dealt with the patients during my industrial attachment at a health facility and this provided me with the experience that I need as a nurse. Research on new nursing techniques is important. To facilitate up to date with technology, any chance to further my studies will be utilized.
