My envisaged future profession is in the nursing profession generally and more specifically within the limb of midwifery. I would want to be able to assist others to bring bubbly bundles of joy into this world in the same way that I was assisted by my midwife, who also inspired me to become a nurse. I have therefore been willing and steeling myself towards attaining the right professional and personal qualifications to enable me to excel in this career choice. At this moment in time, I would consider the results of my self-assessment to reflect a work in progress but one that reflects a need for more effort on my part.
Personal and Professional Accountability
Based on my recent Self Feedback results, my personal assessment of personal and professional accountability is a positive one. Most of my highest rated terms related to performance management, human resource management, and patient safety. This, in my opinion, is an indication that I understand what needs to be done and also have a drive towards doing the right things. However, there are also areas that require a lot of improvements such as leadership skills and financial management. Based on the foregoing, I would place my score under this category as a work in progress that id indicative of a good potential.

Career Planning
All my scores relating to career planning and capacity to anticipate and adjust to my future career decisions were average which is reflective of a varied score. In my own assessment, I believe that my career planning is off to a good start since I already know what I intend to do in future, which is to become a midwife. The choice of midwifery means that I have not only made a choice for the profession of nursing but also selected which segment within that choice I intend to operate on. I would, therefore, attribute the average score to the planning part for the choice already made which leaves room for improvement.
Personal Journey Disciplines
My personal journey discipline is currently above-average but showing a good potential for improvement. I already know what I want in life and my commitment to achieving it is strong. U have made many sacrifices in life all geared towards ensuring that my personal journey in life is successful and attains the intended objectives. Further, my personal journey is not littered with objectives that benefit me individually but rather a personal intent to assist others in the most critical moments of their lives, which is during delivery. As I am both committed and determined to see this journey come to fruition, I would assess myself as highly disciplined when it comes to my personal journey.
Reflective Practice Reference Behaviors/Tenets
In my nurse manager assessment, my capacity to perform and influence others attained above average score. Further, my practice scores relating to the management and handling of patients including from a perspective of safety were also scored positively. Therefore, my self-assessment from a perspective of practice would be on the higher side in general and also the highest when compared to other areas of self-assessment as reflected in the instant essay. Whereas I may have a lot more to learn in theory, when it comes to an application of my character and tenets to a professional scenario from the perspective of nursing, I would assess myself as a good fit.
Using Leadership to Advocate for Change
The application of leadership to advocate for change in the workplace is a two-sided affair as it involves both how the team performs and how the performance is represented to the top management. To advocate for change using my leadership skills, I would first ensure that the team I am leading performs so well that it garners notice from top management. Performing well in this instance rises above just ensuring that everything that needs to be done gets done as it also includes innovatively going over and above the expectation of management. Further, the process of creating an excellent team, such as creating cohesion and harmony in the team are in themselves ways of improving working conditions. When the team shines noticeably, I would utilize goodwill generated from the success to lobby the top management to improve the terms and conditions under which the team operates. Top management will be more willing to improve terms of service for an excelling team as compared to an average of failing team.
Personal goal for My Leadership Growth
Among my personal goals for leadership in attaining excellence in conflict resolution, as the internal conflict is among the issues that affect cohesion in a nursing-based professional team. Conflict resolution involves being able to resolve the conflict between two parties and also ensuring that the two parties are able to work together post-conflict. My implementation plan for this growth begins with studying about it, which entails learning all there is about the conflict itself. The second part of the plan is the practical phase which involves seeking to resolve real and imagined conflicts between friends and family members. The idea behind the practice phase is to create the ability to see more than one side of each and every dispute and also to make both parties understand the perspectives of each other. The combination of theory and practice will enable me to excel in conflict resolution from the perspective of leadership.
Conclusion
Based on the totality of the above, I would assess myself as having made good progress on the path towards becoming a future midwife. A primary goal of my personal journey is to be able to assist other people to bring life to this world in the same way that I was assisted. The instant self-assessment program has contributed exponentially to this journey as I now understand what I am good at and what leaves room for improvement. I intend to continue polishing the areas I excel in, even as I put more efforts towards the areas that I lag behind in.
