Nowadays, medical practitioners, such as nurses work with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. This brings the need for nurses to provide culturally competent services. Nurses and other healthcare service providers strive to understand patient's differences in terms of culture, age, and their perspective on medical care provided to them. The National CLAS standard ensures that equity, high-quality services in healthcare are promoted to remove disparities (HHS, n.d.) . In nursing practice, these standards are applied in different ways, such as promoting effective communication between patient and nurse during service delivery.

In nursing, my peers and I apply these standards in every action we take regarding patients management. First, we provide top quality services to our patients regardless of their culture. The culture of embracing diversity is deep-rooted in the organization. We believe that every person has equal rights to receiving quality healthcare services without discrimination. We also support our organization's administration, which is a true image of diversity. The leaders are from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Having diverse management has increased the flow of patients from diverse backgrounds and has also promoted equality in the organization. As nurses, we also provide help to patients with less English proficiency for free to facilitate efficiency in the delivery of healthcare services. We also provide understandable multimedia materials to patients to increase the ease of understanding. We provide thorough instructions on medicine prescriptions and other instructions verbally and in written format to ensure the patients understand everything.

Although our organization embraces diversity, more practices can be implemented that boosts cultural competences. The best action is providing training (Kaihlanen, Hietapakka, & Heponiemi, 2019) . Providing cultural competence training to the healthcare professionals in the organization would boost their cultural competence. Training increases the awareness of medical practitioners regarding their useful cultural characteristics. Increased awareness promotes effective communication with patients and colleagues, which is essential in healthcare provision (Truong, Paradies, & Priest, 2014) . All healthcare providers should consider training their employees to promote cultural competence.
