Every citizen of a nation feels that they are entitled to be protected by their nation and would not respond kindly to immigrants getting better rights than them. This feeling is seen to stem from the idea of nativism which is the dogma for defending the interests of natives of a state or established inhabitants over those of immigrants. However looking at the film “Nativism” in America deals on very simple lines. It is a matter of color. The extremists believe that in the next twenty years “white” population will be a minority which is a matter that does not augur well with them. They religiously follow up the current President Donald Trump said going back to Univision. This, therefore, means that nativism in America is similar to racism only that it comes in a discreet and elusive form.

Nativism in the United States has brought about several consequences. The first consequence being the fueling of hate from “white” extremist. The African-American, Muslim American and Latina population have experienced hate crimes against them due to the color of their skin. Physical violence and harassment also stem from the idea of American Nativism. The white population feels that they are superior to other races and this makes it hard for the other races who are living within the borders of America.

American “nativism” can be explained using evolutionism whereby at the inception of this policy the state wished to protect its citizens but it has evolved over time to be a complex yet subtle form of racism. Using diffusionism, the Nazi’s also had a similar problem during Hitler’s reign where they wished to eradicate all non-Germans. This culture might have spread over time to America and thus resulting in the issue at hand. The most appropriate way to deal with Nativism would be to abolish this policy and treat one another equally.
