NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital Jonesboro AR in Northeast Arkansas came as an ultra-modern healthcare center that in all senses reflect the 21 st century architecture. The six-storey building sits on an eighty-five-acre piece of land, and is 800,000 square feet, with a one hundred and ninety-two beds and the capability of bed expansion to three hundred beds. Also aside from the hospital campus, there is a 34,000 square foot cancer center that offers treatment to terminally ill patients and offers such services as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, oncology and research with well-established modern equipment. 

The building features an exquisite design with several interconnected stories for the hospital and the employees unit which houses up to 1500 employees mostly the doctors and specialists. The entrance of the hospital is dome-shaped two storeys building vividly giving a panoramic view of the hospital. Also, it allows for easy entrance into the main area of the hospital. The finish is composed of distinct brick color tastes walls on either side with transparent glass windows that offer a view of the city from within the building and natural ambient light seeping through. Behind the entrance, a building is the six-storey hospital building with the bed spaces. The building consists of two parallel and symmetrical stories with the hospital’s logo at the top. Behind them is a conjoining building which forms part of the entire structure. In front of the hospital is a driveway that allows for vehicles to drive by the entrance and allows for boarding or alighting of people from their vehicles. Behind the hospital is a large parking lot dedicated for hospital use by staff and visitors such as patients.

The estimated budget for the state of the art hospital stood at four hundred million dollars making it one of the greatest investments within Arkansas. The site preparation commenced in mid-2010 which with the construction beginning the following year in April. The architectural design was made by an award-winning company known as Nashville architectural firm Earl Swensson Associates, Inc., and the construction work done by the renowned health care contractor Hoar Construction. The construction works were completed in the summer of 2013 falling well by the speculations made in the design stage. 

The construction of the hospital came at an essential time bringing with it very many advantages to the community as a whole. The new hospital came as an improvement of the previously ninety-one-bed capacity. The first impact came with the construction works was the employment of close to seven hundred construction workers who were involved in the development of the hospital’s magnificent structure from scratch. 

Also, the building of the new hospital was placed on a strategic area of the ever-busy supper-highway hence being able to serve the maximum number of patients and making it easily accessible to the community. The second thing is that with the construction in this strategic place, many other facilities found a haven for the construction of their businesses such as shopping centers. 

The completion of the medical campus also meant an increase in some people employed within the community. A total of an additional 500 employees were recruited, hence, bettering the economy of the people of Arkansas. This facility also meant several specialists were located in a central position hence all the medical services were administered in one place. Also with the medical campus, the medical students from within the area got specialized training from the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. The institution also is ultra modern and has with it sophisticated electrical medical equipment that has improved the kind of services provided. 

In conclusion, with the construction of this medical facility, many impacts were faced in the community. Also the competitive nature of construction and service delivery, the general dimension of hospital construction has become a trend of the present age where the architecture matters.
