The subject that is analyzed in the two articles is politics. The people’s Tribune is talking about how politicians are doing nothing to prevent disasters that are possible to prevent while the Tribunal de Pueblo, is shedding light on the 2016 elections where the candidates made several promises to the workers without providing a clear plan on how they intended to deliver on them. While many people went to the streets to protest the victory of Trump, it is also evident that they would take to the streets to protest if Clinton had won (Mills, 2016). The primary explanation for this is that the people had different preferences and while there are those who were opposed to Trump and Clinton, there were those who also loved them.
The two articles were written in the context of the just concluded 2016 elections in the United States. The article that was written in the people’s tribunal can be placed in the framework of the campaign period while the other article by the Tribune de Pueblo is highlighting the events that occurred immediately after the announcement of the winner of the presidential race in America. Also while the former is talking about the grievances of the people regarding the necessary things that the government has failed to grant them, the later is talking about how the politicians are trying to divide the workers so as to rule them. Joyce Mills focuses on the problem that was experienced by the people after the water supply of Flint was intoxicated while a Tribuno de person is talking about the plight of the workers (Tribuno Del Pueblo 2016).

Many people suffered and while there was an able government in place, the people were not able to get help. Even after getting ill as a result of intoxicated drinking water, the health services that were provided by the government were of the lowest quality which indicated that there is a serious problem in the health sector and also democracy in its entirety (Mills, 2016). As the people were heading towards the elections, they were being urged to make the right decision because the problems facing them were going to be solved by good leaders.

In the story found in the people’s tribunal, the preference of the citizens has highlighted as well as the modifications that need to be made. The people who voted for him because of this particular promise did not stop to ask themselves how the elected president was going to deliver on his promise.
The problems that are highlighted are the poor health services that are provided and the lack of strong public assets such as water for the people. Another issue that is highlighted is that of political dissatisfaction. After Trump had won, many people took to the streets to oppose his victory. But one thing is also clear that even if Hillary Clinton had won, those who were not in support of her would still come out to protest (Mills, 2016).
The solution that is provided for the problem of the poisonous of Flint is that the government should expand democracy and reinstitute it. Doing this will enable the government to give a guarantee to all the citizens that health and water services are matters of national concern that should be prioritized. The problem that the working class is facing because of choosing the wrong leaders can be solved by ensuring that they remain united. It is the best way they are going to ensure a better future and a better life for everyone.
Social change is necessary to solve the problems that are highlighted in the two articles. The people need to accept change so as to find a lasting solution to the problem. The agents of change are the people themselves. The people need to resist the division by race that Trump is trying to create in their midst. The people can bring change if they stand their ground and not follow the ideologies of the politicians blindly. The audience for the People’s Tribunal and Tribuno de people are the citizens who were going to vote and the workers who had already voted respectively (Tribuno Del Pueblo 2016). The former is highlighting the debates that took place during the campaign period while the later is calling upon the workers who are in support or opposed to Trump to unite to push their interests forward.
The most useful part of the two works is that it is highlighting the failures on the side of politics and it is providing solutions for the problems facing the electorate. There is nothing that could be different because the two works state the facts as they are and although the expectations are high, they are attainable. As an activist, the most useful part of the two works is that it is highlighting the plight of the electorate and is suggesting the changes that need to be made so as to improve the situation. The two works are just okay there is nothing different that could be done to them.
