Languages typically pose challenges in regard to the attainment of high levels of satisfaction especially among medical patients and professionals, providing high-quality care, as well as maintaining patient safety (Al Shamsi et al., 2020). Particularly in a transcultural context, this leads to mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion as language barriers prevent them from attaining a high level of efficiency and having a stable work environment. This issue is especially elevated in short-staffed institutions and is composed of a cross-cultural and racial staff, that often speak different languages. Therefore, this project aims at the provision of a myriad of interventions to aid the nurses in overcoming language barriers in their work environments.
These are the objectives of the project:
To mobilize the hospital staff and management to integrate interpretive technologies into their systems for ease in communication. – fortunately, there are several available technologies which provide effectual interpretation between the different providers as well as their patients. For less common language, there are innumerable devices which can provide 24-hour access to remote medical translators in almost every language (Swezey, 2019).

To aid the staff on how to approach situations with dissimilarities in language, especially between them and the patients. – the study aims at helping each individual staff that faces issues of language barriers by formulating procedures to resolve the situation. This includes how to approach the patients in such cases as well as how to notify their superiors or workmates on such circumstances.
To educate the nurses on how to teach themselves a different language, especially when it is significantly prevalent in their working contexts. – There are certain languages that are prevalent in different regions depending on the racial and cultural identities of the inhabitants of that particular region. Therefore, it is anticipated that there are higher chances of nurses facing the dominant language in their region of work and thus the provision of strategies on how to learn a different language, especially the critical medical jargon for inquiry and treatment.
To sensitive the nurses on the nature of their working environments to decrease burnout. – considering the nature of the working environments of nurses, language barriers are anticipated issues and thus sensitizing them to adapt to their environments can significantly decrease burnout due to language barriers.
To educate the management on ways of decreasing work burnout in their employees. -This objective aims at addressing the overarching issue of burnout by educating the administration on the means of decreasing or reducing work burnout in nurses.
The rationale for How the Proposed Project and Objectives Advocate for Autonomy and Social Justice
The project aims at the ways of addressing the issues of language barriers in nurses, especially in the hospital context as it causes burnouts. Some of the proposed objectives, which will be reflected in the methodologies and subsequent goals of the research, are primarily posed towards the assurance of continuity of work for nurses such that they are not dependent on external intervention to undertake their tasks. For instance, educating the nurses on how to teach themselves the dominant language of the region, ways of approaching language barrier situations, as well as the utilization of interpretive technologies aids the nurses in attaining autonomy since they are in control of their situations and have the capacity to make decisions that suit their needs and those of their patients. In the same manner, it gives the nurses equal opportunities to attain a stable and efficacious working environment, thus the attainment of social justice. Furthermore, the objectives and goals of decreasing nurse burnout within their working environment target all nurses, thus ensuring that each nurse has equal opportunities and privileges of having burnout-free works. Most importantly, even the patients have the opportunity of reaping the benefits of the project, as it attains high-quality care, thus the attainment of social justice on a holistic level.
